Abstract

The doubletlike structures observed at Ec.m.20 and 22 MeV in the O16(C12, C12) O16*(3, 6.13 MeV) excitation function are simply reproduced by the coupled-channels method. The lower and higher members of the "doublets" are interpreted as the resonances enhanced in the subchannels of C12-O16(3) with J=L+3 and with J=L+1, respectively. The splitting of the "doublet" is mainly attributed to the J(J+1) dependence of the potential adiabatically distorted by the coupling interaction between C12 and O16.
