Abstract

The interference of KS and KL in the decay KS,Lπ+π has been studied by use of the KS regeneration technique. With utilization of the results for the regeneration phase presented in the preceding Letter, the phase of η+ has been determined as a function of the KLKS mass difference: ϕ+=(45.5°±2.8°)+120°(Δm0.5348)Δm. The data also provide an accurate measurement of the KS total decay rate: ΓS=[(1.122±0.004)+0.16(Δm0.5348)Δm]×1010 sec1.
