Abstract
We present the explicit construction of an SO(18) model that yields only three fermion families, along with their mirror partners, about or below the weak scale. The complete Higgs-field content that provides the necessary symmetry breakings is given, featuring a considerably smaller number of scalars as compared to previous constructions. The symmetry breaking of SO(10) has the interesting feature of intermediate scale breaking of the left-right symmetry in electroweak interactions, producing phenomenologically interesting neutrino masses. The possibility of new types of cosmological dark matter, feebly coupled to the ordinary matter, is discussed.
