Abstract

Singlet (S01) and triplet (S13) nucleon-nucleon potentials are obtained in the framework of the SU(2) nonrelativistic quark model using the resonating-group method in the Born-Oppenheimer approximation. The full Hamiltonian used in the investigation includes the kinetic energy, two-body confinement potential, one-gluon-exchange potential (OGEP), one-pion exchange potential (OPEP), and instanton induced interaction (III), which includes the effect of quark exchange between the nucleons. The contribution of the OGEP, III, and OPEP to the nucleon-nucleon adiabatic potential is discussed.
