Abstract

The neutron-rich nucleus Pr149 has been studied by means of prompt and delayed γ-ray spectroscopy using the EUROGAM2 and Gammasphere arrays of Ge detectors. New spins have been assigned to a previously reported band and it is interpreted as having a h11/2 proton structure, from a comparison with quasiparticle-rotor model calculations. The strength of octupole correlations in odd-Z nuclei of the region is discussed.
