${\frac{3}{2}}^{+}$ levels ${\mathrm{of}}^5$He ${\mathrm{and}}^5$Li, and shadow poles

It is suggested that, contrary to previous proposals, the properties of the ${\frac{3}{2}}^{+}$ levels of ${}^5\mathrm{He}$ and ${}^5\mathrm{Li}$ may be understood as easily from the conventional $R$-matrix parameters as from the complex-energy poles of the $S$ matrix.
