Abstract
Radiative pion capture in a liquid target has been measured with a high-resolution photon detector. Evidence for , giant magnetic quadrupole states has been found. Results of a shell model calculation are given which represent the experimental spectrum satisfactorily. For the , MeV level and the total spectrum the measured branching ratios are (9.6±2.4) × and (2.4±0.6) × , respectively.
NUCLEAR REACTIONS , ( MeV), MeV, measured photon spectra, pair spectrometer, compared with shell model calculations.
