Abstract

O16(p,p)O16 measurements near Ep=6.482 MeV and phase shift analysis of the data permits an unambiguous Jπ=52+ assignment to the narrow level at Ex(F17)=6.699 MeV that was previously listed as 32. The level parameters suggest correspondence to a predicted 5p-4h state at Ex=5.91 MeV in A=17 nuclei.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS F17; measured O16(p,p)O16, deduced Jπ, Γ, Γp.
