Abstract

Absolute cross sections for the Li6(He3, p) reaction to the ground, 2.94-, 16.63-, and 16.92-MeV states in Be8, as well as for the total underlying proton continuum, have been obtained for incident He3 energies between ∼0.5 and 1.85 MeV. Differential and total (integrated) reaction cross sections with accuracies of 10-20% are presented. Thermonuclear reaction-rate parameters are calculated. Interpretation of the observed proton and alpha particle continuous spectra is discussed.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS Li6(He3, p)Be8, Li6(He3, p)2α, EHe3=0.51.85 MeV; enriched LiF target; measured σ(EHe3, θ), σ(EHe3); calculated σv.
