Abstract

The isotope Pa220 produced in the reaction Ar40+Re187 at a beam energy of 198.7 MeV was reinvestigated via the α-spectroscopic method. A new α-decaying state in Pa220 has been observed with an energy Eα=9664(40)keV and with a half-life T1/2=23356+108ns. The spin parity of the state is tentatively suggested to be (3). The α energy and half-life of the (1) ground state are measured to be Eα=9548(30)keV and T1/2=0.75(8)μs, respectively. The reduced α width, inferred from the present data, fits well into the systematics for N=129 isotones.
