Abstract

Local electric field versus current density (Ej) curves were measured in YBa2Cu3O7δ and Nd1.85Ce0.15CuO4δ single crystals using a miniature Hall-sensors array. Measurements in the field range corresponding to the anomalous magnetization peak in these crystals reveal remarkably different Ej characteristics below and above the peak, indicating a crossover in the flux-creep mechanism. Similar Ej behavior, as observed here in YBa2Cu3O7δ and Nd1.85Ce0.15CuO4δ, is expected universally in every superconductor exhibiting the anomalous peak.
