Abstract
We present a magneto-optical study of CdTe/Te multiple quantum wells with the Mn ion concentration chosen to be less than 3% so that the magnetic properties of the barrier layers were not affected by an enhanced paramagnetism at the interface. Different spectroscopic data, including the energy difference between the heavy-hole and light-hole confined excitons and the exchange splittings of these two states with magnetic field, have been used to determine the partition ratio of the valence-band offset. All of the data are consistent with a partition ratio in the range 0.30–0.40.
