Abstract
The algebraic variational method has been applied to the scattering of electrons by hydrogen atoms at intermediate energies. The atom was represented by an eleven-state expansion, including exact , , , and states plus seven pseudostates. The pseudochannels are allowed to be open. Results are presented for and excitations for energies between 10 and 12 eV, and for elastic scattering from 10 to 30 eV.
