Abstract

The radiative lifetimes and alignment depolarization cross sections due to collisions with ground-state atoms of the (4p55p)D21 and D33 levels in Kr have been measured by the Hanle-effect method. Our results are τ(D21)=3.02(31)×108 sec, τ(D33)=2.81(25)×108 sec, σ¯2(D21)=4.49(32)×1014 cm2, and σ¯2(D33)=4.79(27)×1014 cm2. The cross sections were measured at T=292(6) °K.
