Complete quantum electrodynamic α6m correction to energy levels of light atoms

Abstract

We derive a complete expression for the nonrecoil quantum electrodynamic α6m correction to the Lamb shift, the fine and hyperfine structure of light N-electron atoms. The derivation is performed in the framework of nonrelativistic quantum electrodynamics. The obtained formulas generalize previous ones derived for the specific cases of the helium atom, and the fine and hyperfine structure of lithium, and pave the way for improving the theory of light atoms with three and more electrons.
