Abstract

A study of the position and width of the lowest S1 and P3 resonances in the eH system was made by judiciously comparing the published data of McGowan, Clarke, and Curley with values of the cross section calculated for a variety of resonance positions E0+ and E0, and widths Γ0+ and Γ1. It is determined that the S1 and P3 resonance positions are E0+=9.56±0.01 eV and E1=9.71±0.03 eV, while the respective widths are Γ0+=0.043±0.006 eV and Γ10.009 eV. The resonance shapes are shown to depend critically upon both the angle of observation and the angular resolution.
