Abstract

The oscillatory instability of Rayleigh-Bénard convection is studied in a solution of 1.46% He3 in superfluid He4 for the Prandtl-number range 0.045<~σ<~0.15. The observed behaviors of the oscillatory frequency and the onset condition support the theory of oscillatory convection for a classical, low-Prandtl-number, one-component fluid.
