Abstract

Analyzing power measurements from the (p,d) reaction on Zr90 and Sn120 have been made using a 90 MeV polarized proton beam. The spin of the broad structure near 5 MeV excitation energy in Sn119 has been unambiguously determined to be 9/2 from comparison with the empirical analyzing power for the ground state of Zr89 and from distorted wave Born approximation calculations.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS Zr90(p,d), Sn120(p,d) E=90 MeV; polarized beam, measured σ(θ), Ay(θ) DWBA analysis, deduced by Jπ, resolution 100 keV.
