Magnetic Ordering in Solid Helium-3

Abstract

Using a model for the magnetic properties of solid He3 which includes both Heisenberg exchange and the motion of ground-state vacancies (concentration ∼ 104), we predict via mean-field theory a first-order paramagnetic- to ferromagnetic-phase transition.
