Searches for $B$ Meson Decays to $\varphi \varphi$, $\varphi \rho$, $\varphi f_0(980)$, and $f_0(980)f_0(980)$ Final States

We present the results of searches for $B$ decays to charmless final states involving $\varphi$, $f_0(980)$, and charged or neutral $\rho$ mesons. The data sample corresponds to $384\times {10}^6$ $B\overline{B}$ pairs collected with the BABAR detector operating at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy $e^{+}{e}^{-}$ collider at SLAC. We find no significant signals and determine the following 90% confidence level upper limits on the branching fractions, including systematic uncertainties: $\mathcal{B}\mathbf{(}{B}^0\to \varphi \varphi \mathbf{)}<2.0\times {10}^{-7}$, $\mathcal{B}\mathbf{(}{B}^{+}\to \varphi {\rho }^{+}\mathbf{)}<30\times {10}^{-7}$, $\mathcal{B}\mathbf{(}{B}^0\to \varphi {\rho }^0\mathbf{)}<3.3\times {10}^{-7}$, $\mathcal{B}\mathbf{[}{B}^0\to \varphi f_0(980)\mathbf{]}\times \mathcal{B}\mathbf{[}{f}_0(980)\to {\pi }^{+}{\pi }^{-}\mathbf{]}<3.8\times {10}^{-7}$, and $\mathcal{B}\mathbf{[}{B}^0\to f_0(980)f_0(980)\mathbf{]}\times \mathcal{B}\mathbf{[}{f}_0(980)\to {\pi }^{+}{\pi }^{-}\mathbf{]}\times \mathcal{B}\mathbf{[}{f}_0(980)\to K^{+}{K}^{-}\mathbf{]}<2.3\times {10}^{-7}$.
