Abstract

We derive the exact bright and dark soliton solutions of a set of coupled nonlinear Schrödinger equations with higher-order linear and nonlinear dispersion terms included, for a specific set of parameters by using the Hirota bilinear approach, so as to get some ideas about the role of these terms for coupled soliton dynamics. Further, by considering the additional nonlinear effects resulting from the delayed nonlinear response, we have noted corresponding changes in the above soliton solutions. © 1996 The American Physical Society.
