Abstract
We present a unified account of two related processes, and , in a scheme of higher baryon couplings developed by this group. The work which represents a considerably improved version of an earlier model for the study of the process at moderately high energies (1.0-1.5 GeV) is now extended to include (i) lower energies (down to 300 MeV) for , and (ii) the related process , within a common set of assumptions for the and exchange vertices. The fits to the data for both the processes come out rather well over their respective energy ranges, which are appreciable.
