Abstract

The recently proposed curvature-induced asymptotic freedom of Yang-Mills theory is shown to be modified by infrared effects in a Bianchi type-II space-time. A closed expression for the free energy density of scalar fields at finite temperature in a Bianchi type-II metric is also obtained and the corresponding curvature influence on spontaneous symmetry breakdown is discussed.
