Abstract

We study the problem of spontaneous symmetry breaking of SU(n) gauge theories. We consider the breaking with fourth-rank tensors to maximal regular subgroups of SU(n). We derive explicit solutions of equations for stationary points and define stability conditions for minima invariant under these subgroups. We discuss applications to some physical models.
