Expansion parameter of perturbation theory in intense-field quantum electrodynamics

Abstract

The asymptotic behavior of electron and photon elastic scattering amplitudes of order α3 in an intense constant electromagnetic field are studied. It is shown that the expansion parameter of perturbation theory in intense-field quantum electrodynamics is αχ23 when χ1, where χ=[(eFμνpν)2]12m3 with pμ the momentum of the particle and Fμν the electromagnetic field tensor.
