Abstract

Lifetime of the 3/2 first excited state in S37 populated by the β decay of P37 has been measured using βγ delayed coincidence technique. The B(E2;7/23/2) value in S37 deduced from the lifetime comes close to the B(E2;0+21+) value in weakly deformed S38 but deviates significantly from that in spherical S36. This manifests that S37 is a weakly deformed rather than spherical nucleus.
