Abstract

Isoscalar monopole transitions from the ground states to cluster states in Be10 and Li9 are investigated using He6+α and He6+t cluster models, respectively. In Be10, significant monopole strengths are obtained for He6+α cluster resonances of Be10(03,4+) above the α-decay threshold, whereas the strengths for He6+t cluster resonances in Li9 are not enhanced because of the large fragmentation of strengths in the corresponding energy region. The monopole transition to Be10(02+) with the molecular orbital structure is relatively weak compared with those to He6+α cluster resonances. Monopole strength distributions do not directly correspond to distributions of He6(0+)+α and He6(0+)+t components but reflect the component of the deformed He6 cluster with a specific orientation, which is originally embedded in the ground state.
