Abstract

Elastic and inelastic scattering of 240 MeV Li6 particles from Mg24 and Si28 were measured with the MDM spectrometer. Optical potential parameters for Li6+Mg24 and Li6+Si28 scattering systems were obtained by fitting elastic scattering with two different folding model potentials as well as WS potentials. E0E3 giant resonance strength distributions for Si28 and Mg24 were obtained. E0 strength corresponding to 10624+34% of the EWSR was identified in Mg24 and 8020+35% was found for Si28 between Ex=8.0 to 40.0 MeV.
