Abstract

The Be9(He3,α)Be*8(p)Li7 reaction was studied at Elab(3He)=30 MeV to deduce the branching ratios of Γp1/Γp0 of resonant states at 18.91–20.1MeV in Be8, which are necessary to extract the Be7(n,p1)Li*7 reaction rate relevant to the Be7 destruction in the big bang nucleosynthesis, from the Li7(p,n0)Be7 reaction cross section. The decay protons from Be*8 to the ground and first excited states in Li7 were well-separately measured. The Γp1/Γp0 ratio of the 19.235-MeV state was deduced to be 3.4±1.9 %. The 19.86- and 20.1-MeV states were found to decay dominantly into the first excited and ground states of Li7, respectively.
