Abstract

High-quality single crystals of UIr2Zn20 were studied by means of x-ray diffraction, magnetic, electrical transport, and heat capacity measurements. In striking contrast with the literature data that classify the compound as an itinerant heavy-fermion ferromagnet with TC = 2.1 K, no long-range magnetic ordering was found for the samples investigated down to 350 mK.
