Abstract

Fukuda et al. [Phys. Rev. B66, 012104 (2002)] have reported superlattice reflections in the x-ray diffraction of Sr14Cu24O41, which they interpreted as being due to charge order on the CuO2 chains. Here it is shown that these additional reflections already are present due to the interactions between the subsystems in this composite crystal and that their presence does not bear any relation to a possible charge order in this compound.
