Abstract

Temperature-dependent static magnetization, ac magnetic susceptibility, and electrical-resistivity measurements of single-crystal DyNi2B2C reveal bulk superconductivity below Tc=(6.2±0.1) K. This Tc is well below the Néel temperature TN=10.3 K. DyNi2B2C is the first RNi2B2C compound with Tc<TN. The upper critical magnetic field Hc2(T) increases approximately linearly from zero at 6.2 K to ∼5 kG at 2 K.
