Abstract
The competition between short-range disorder and the long-range, Ruderman-Kittel-Kasuya-Yosida interaction is studied. For suitable values of the coupling constants we find a dynamical freezing, which is a precursor to an equilibrium phase transition at a still lower temperature. Our present method is restricted to two dimensions.
