Abstract
A systematic variation in the line-intensity ratios of Gai– and Zni–like Pr (Z=59) to Dy (Z=66) ions has been observed in spectra emitted by atoms injected in a low-density high-temperature tokamak plasma. This variation is shown to be correlated with the progressive closing of the autoionizing channels through the excited 344p4f configuration in the Gai–like ionization state as Z increases.
