Abstract
We present a theory appropriate for both the interaction-induced and the pressure-broadened rototranslational Raman spectra based on the binary-collision approximation. Assuming that the anisotropic part of the intermolecular interaction is a small perturbation, we compute the Raman spectrum of hydrogen in the wings of the rotational Raman lines and compare it with an experimental spectrum recently reported.
