Abstract
A brief account is given of Dyson's proof of the finiteness after renormalization of the matrix elements for scattering processes (-matrix elements) in electrodynamics (interaction of photons and electrons). It is shown to which meson interactions this proof can be extended and some of the difficulties which arose in this extension are discussed.
