Abstract
We perform optical spectroscopy on quasi-1D excitons appearing in low disorder AlAs/GaAs lateral superlattices (LSLs) achieved by organized growth on vicinal substrates. Exciton-exciton couplings are measured by bringing optical levels into resonance in tilted LSLs. In a regime where the large LSL periodicity preserves the 2D Rydberg , we report unexpected splittings as high as (6 times the 2D values). This enhancement of Coulomb interaction is analyzed in terms of valence-band mixing and 1D periodic confinement.
