Self-Trapping of Partially Spatially Incoherent Light

Abstract

We report the first observation of self-trapping of a spatially incoherent optical beam in a nonlinear medium. Self-trapping occurs in both transverse dimensions, when diffraction is exactly balanced by photorefractive self-focusing.
