Study of Lattice SU(N) QCD at Finite Baryon Density

Abstract

We analyze the strong-coupling limit of lattice SU(N) QCD at finite chemical potential. Using a dimer approach and mean-field techniques we predict the existence of a chiral-symmetry-restoring first-order phase transition for N>~3. We conclude that recent nonstandard results discussed in the literature may be due to numerical problems.
