Abstract

We have measured the correlation range for fluctuations of the orientational order parameter in the isotropic phase of the liquid crystal p-methoxy benzylidene, pn butyl aniline (MBBA). The correlation range was found to diverge as (TTc*)12, in agreement with the predictions of de Gennes. This result is in contradiction with the behavior reported by Chu, Bak, and Lin.
