Abstract
An experimental method is demonstrated that allows determination of the ratio between the electric () and magnetic () transition dipole moments in the band of OH, including their relative sign. Although the transition strengths differ by more than 3 orders of magnitude, the measured -to- ratio agrees with the ratio of the ab initio calculated values to within 3%. The relative sign is found to be negative, also in agreement with theory.
