Abstract

We demonstrate both theoretically and experimentally that the distribution of the wave function inside a partially open chaotic time reversal symmetric system displays significant deviations from the Porter-Thomas distribution. We give arguments which show that this distribution resembles the distribution which is expected to be found in closed chaotic systems with broken time-reversal symmetry.
