Abstract

We consider a closed or open inflating brane-world which is created from a little baby universe, together with an asymptotically anti–de Sitter wormhole bulk. It is shown that the generalized solutions corresponding to the instanton constructed in this scenario are always nonsingular, even at the center of the bulk. Once created the branes inflate following a pattern which rapidly approaches that of conventional de Sitter space, and possess a bound state for gravity and a spectrum of Kaluza-Klein excitations which are separated by a mass gap that can be made smaller than that corresponding to the singular solutions.
