Abstract

By using the expressions for the complete metric and vector potential perturbations of the Reissner-Nordström solution in terms of scalar potentials, the relation between the incident, reflected, and absorbed gravitational and electromagnetic waves is obtained. The fractions of the energy of the incident waves of one kind that is reflected or absorbed as waves of the other kind are given and the effect on the polarization of the waves is also discussed.
