Improved search for massive neutrinos in π+e+ν decay

Abstract

Evidence of massive neutrinos was sought in the π+e+ν decay spectrum with the background from the πμe decay chain highly suppressed. Upper limits (90% C.L.) were set on the neutrino mixing parameter |Uei|2<107 in the mass region 50<mν<130 MeV/c2.
