Abstract

The chaotic nature of time-dependent, spherically symmetric solutions of SU(2) Yang-Mills equations is numerically studied. We show that the phase space near the Wu-Yang magnetic-monopole solution is intrinsically not only ergodic but also chaotic by measuring the induction period, the equal-time correlation, and the maximal Lyapunov exponents.
