Abstract
Simple initial conditions can only determine the specific behavior of a relatively small number of macroscopic variables. A more detailed description of the classical history of the Universe requires arbitrary inputs in addition to the simple initial conditions, and the limitations of the predictive power of simple initial conditions can be seen from information-theoretic considerations.
