Abstract

A method to determine the most general type of gauge invariance for a massless spin-two field has recently been formulated. It was shown that a consistent nonlinear generalization of the linearized Einstein equations yields theories that are either ‘‘normal’’ spin-two gauge invariant or generally covariant. In this paper this analysis is extended to include conformally invariant theories.
