Resonant and direct components in the He3(d,p)He4 reaction at low energies

Abstract

New experimental results for the cross section and Ayy tensor analyzing power observables of the He3(d,p)He4 reaction at a scattering angle of θ=0° are presented for Ed=0.52,0.89, and 1.49MeV, and all linearly independent scattering amplitudes at this angle are calculated. A hybrid Rmatrix+potential model is used to fit these results and other He3(d,p)He4 reaction data for Ed<1MeV. This analysis indicates significant direct process contributions to the reaction mechanism.
