Abstract

Multifragment emission data from the He3+Ag reaction are examined in the context of an intranuclear cascade code followed by an expanding, emitting source calculation. The role of Δ resonances in the energy dissipation process is stressed. In addition, the importance of employing a distribution of excitation energies in such analyses is pointed out. In order to describe the data within the context of this hybrid model, excitation via Δ resonance formation and expansion of the emitting source are required.
